VOLUNTEERING
Why volunteer for First Days?
Giving your time to us makes a HUGE difference to the level of support we can provide families. Our volunteers are a precious and vital resource to First Days and we cherish their contribution. Quite simply we can't do what we do, without our fantastic volunteers!
Maybe you've had a career break and would like to get back into employment, or you'd like to meet new people, or you'd like to offer something to the community... Whatever the reason, we'd love to hear from you. Please email volunteering@firstdays.net and we'll invite you to come in for a cuppa and tour of our HQ.
Make a difference - share your skills and experience with us
We have lots of roles if you'd like to join our team on a regular or ad hoc basis:
-
You could join our warehouse team - they carefully sort our donations thereby restoring dignity to families by ensuring we have good quality items. This team also puts sorted stock away, picks items and prepares items for collection.
-
How about taking a front of house role as receptionist, directing calls and ensuring the smooth running of the First Days Office.
-
Working with our Family support team you would talk to families to establish their needs, both face to face and over the phone.
-
Let us know if you are happy to make deliveries in your own car or drive our van. We always need IT support or volunteers handy with a drill too.
Spend time with friends
We have a sociable family atmosphere and new friendships are made as the baby packs are filled! We love it when volunteers come with a friend or two, so they can spend time together making a difference in our community.
Learn new skills or revive old ones
We provide on the job training for whatever role you are interested in, which can be a compelling addition to your CV!
Take a look at the role descriptions. Give us a call to discuss which one will suit you best, and you’re welcome to try another after a time to broaden your experience.
Corporate Volunteering
Make your team building day deliver a real difference

As we have a small team at First Days, a group of energetic volunteers can literally quadruple our workforce for a day! We always have projects we’d like to do or need extra support to fast-track, some examples are:
If you're part of a team who’d like to get involved and help a local good cause, or your company offers paid volunteering as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility policy please email volunteering@firstdays.net - we’d love to hear from you!
We kindly ask for a financial contribution of £50 per volunteer, which helps support our work.
